Introduction
The UK is undergoing a profound energy transformation. With net-zero targets embedded into national policy, and consumer and corporate demand for sustainability reaching critical mass, the market for clean energy technologies is expanding rapidly. Within this context, the convergence of solar photovoltaics (PV), battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure has created a multi-layered, high-growth ecosystem. This is especially true in the residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) segments, where decarbonisation can directly reduce costs, enhance energy security, and offer strategic advantage.

In an age where every kilowatt counts and every byte leaves a footprint, the convergence of blockchain and energy is not just a technical evolution—it’s a deeply human response to some of the most pressing challenges of our time. From the streets of Punggol to the fjords of Scandinavia, communities, innovators, and policymakers are turning to blockchain not as a buzzword, but as a backbone for a more just and sustainable energy future.

Ypatios Moysiadis, CEO of WattCrop, referred to the challenges and the progress recorded by the storage market in Greece at the Renewable Energy Tech exhibition.
As he noted, it is expected that batteries would be the main focus of the exhibition, while the market is in a holding pattern. Specifically, among other things, he noted:

From struggle, betrayal, and the preservation of human dignity comes the love of engineering. These forces have always shaped history and will continue to shape the future. Time is a fluid concept. Infinite knowledge is instantaneously available; we just need a clear head to see it, Quantum Computing is on the horizon, but a distant potential and Artificial Intelligence is already here.

Hydropower, also known as hydroelectric power, is a form of renewable energy that harnesses the energy of flowing or falling water to generate electricity. It is one of the oldest and most widely used sources of renewable energy in the world. Also, it can play a crucial role in managing floods by providing a controlled release of water during heavy rain or snowmelt events.
Recently, Wattcrop, true to its vision and commitments, submitted three more renewable energy projects to the independent Regulatory Authority for Waste Energy and Water (RAEAEY) for the issuance of a producer’s certificate. The first of these is a storage project with accumulators while the other two are photovoltaic plants with integrated storage.
The storage project submitted to RAAEY in September is located in the region of Florina. It is an interconnected Energy Storage System (stand-alone BESS) with a Nominal Capacity of 400 MWh and Nominal Power of 100 MW.
